Master Grazier Spotlight: Curt Rincker
Leading by Example in Illinois Grazing
Curt Rincker, a lifelong advocate for the beef industry and a visionary in grazing management, was given the Master Grazier Award for his contributions to both his farm and the broader agricultural community. As a former President of the Illinois Beef Association (IBA), Curt has not only served as a strong leader but has also demonstrated a commitment to grazing and showing others that you can raise excellent beef cattle with this system.
A visit to the Rincker farm reveals the very essence of what it means to be a Master Grazier. The grazing system that Curt and his family have implemented embodies the ideal many of us seek to attain. “When I toured Curt's farm, it had everything I wanted to see: well-managed productive forage, plentiful water, well thought out accessible paddocks, and it was aesthetically pleasing. I went away that day wanting to replicate what I had seen,” remarked ILGLC Board Member Trevor Toland. These elements of excellence in land stewardship demonstrate that a focus on pasture management can produce healthy, high-quality cattle.
Beyond the carefully managed grazing lands, Curt and his family have been long-standing leaders in the beef industry. His wife Pam has been instrumental in balancing her own business while supporting Curt and being present at key moments. Their daughter Cari has made her own impact within the industry as a lawyer, and their son Brent has joined the family operation alongside Curt. The Rincker family exemplifies the combination of lifelong learning, passion, and dedication that characterizes the essence of a Master Grazier.
